Ghent University Power-Link

Low-Carbon technologies

Overview

Ghent University plays with Power-Link an important role in the further development of knowledge within the field of renewable and sustainable energy (RSE) in Flanders by promoting the cooperation between research institutes, businesses and government (triple helix). On the other hand it acts as the signboard of Ghent University in the province of West-Flanders. Power-Link is located at the UGent GreenBridge science park in the inner port of Ostend. Power-Link can bend on energy expertise from all competent research groups of Ghent University and knowledge institutions. This expertise serves educative, demonstrative and investment projects in the science park. For instance, actual projects focus on small wind turbines, alternative fuels and tank facilities, the hydrogen economy, smart tech in grid applications, etc.

Interest to cooperate

Ghent University, Power-Link aims to participate in projects to realize its goals regarding the promotion of sustainable and renewable energy in Flanders. Power-Link is currently setting up research, demonstration and educative projects in cooperation with industrial partners and academic research groups. The aim is, on the one hand, to increase the visibility for the general public and, on the other hand, to stimulate (pre)graduate research and final industrial development. In particular, the focus is on energy efficiency (in industry, building and mobility), renewable energy (on a large and small scale), (electric and thermal) energy systems, blue energy (i.e. offshore energy production) and monitoring of energy production units. We have extensive experience with project communication, project management and an interdisciplinary approach to cross-border and intersectoral cooperation.
