Bio-based sectors "Sectors related to the bio-based economy. The bio-economy concept in the EU focuses on maintaining and creating economic growth and jobs in rural, coastal and industrial areas, reducing fossil fuel dependence and improving the economic and environmental sustainability of primary production and processing industries. The Europe 2020 Strategy calls for a bio-economy to become a key element in achieving smart and green growth in Europe. The EU Bio-economy Strategy and its action Plan aim to pave the way to a more innovative, resource efficient and competitive society that reconciles food security with the sustainable use of renewable resources for industrial purposes, whilst ensuring environmental protection. The bioeconomy provides a useful basis for such an approach, as it encompasses the production of renewable biological resources and the conversion of these resources and waste streams into value added products, such as food, feed, bio-based products and bioenergy. Its sectors and industries have strong innovation potential due to their use of a wide range of sciences, enabling and industrial technologies, along with local and tacit knowledge. " |
Secteurs basés sur le bio "Secteurs liés à la bio-économie. Le concept de bio-économie dans l'UE vise à créer et à préserver la croissance économique et les emplois dans les régions rurales, côtières et industrielles, en réduisant la dépendance vis-à-vis des combustibles fossiles et en améliorant la durabilité environnementale et économique de la production primaire et des industries de transformation. La Stratégie Europe 2020 considère que la bio-économie doit jouer un rôle déterminant pour parvenir à une croissance intelligente et durable en Europe. La Stratégie de bio-économie européenne et son Plan d'action ont pour objectif d'ouvrir la voie à une société plus innovante, plus économe en ressources et plus compétitive, capable de concilier sécurité alimentaire et utilisation durable des ressources renouvelables destinées à l'industrie, tout en protégeant l'environnement. La bio-économie est un bon point de départ pour une telle démarche, car elle englobe la production de ressources biologiques renouvelables et la transformation de ces ressources et flux de déchets en produits à valeur ajoutée comme les denrées alimentaires, les aliments pour animaux, les bioproduits et la bioénergie. Ses secteurs et ses métiers offrent un vaste potentiel d'innovation, car ils ont recours à de nombreuses sciences et technologies industrielles, ainsi qu'à des connaissances locales et implicites. Bio-gebaseerde sectoren "Sectoren die samenhangen met de bio-gebaseerde economie. Het concept ‘bio-based economy’ is in de EU gericht op het behouden en creëren van economische groei en werkgelegenheid in plattelands-, kust- en industriegebieden, het verminderen van de afhankelijkheid van fossiele brandstoffen en het verbeteren van de economische en ecologische duurzaamheid van de primaire productiesector en de verwerkende industrie. Volgens de Europa 2020-strategie moet de bio-economie centraal staan bij het realiseren van slimme en groene groei in Europa. De EU-strategie voor een bio-economie en het bijbehorende actieplan moeten de weg vrijmaken voor een meer innoverende, hulpbronnenefficiënte en concurrerende maatschappij, die voedselzekerheid verzoent met het duurzaam gebruik van hernieuwbare hulpbronnen voor industriële doeleinden en terwijl de bescherming van het milieu verzekert. De bio-economie vormt een nuttige basis voor een dergelijk beleid omdat het zowel de productie van hernieuwbare biologische hulpbronnen als de verwerking van die hulpbronnen en afvalstromen tot waardevolle producten zoals voedsel, diervoeder, bio-gebaseerde producten en bio-energie omvat. Bio-economische sectoren en bedrijven bezitten een sterk innovatiepotentieel omdat zij, in combinatie met hun lokale en impliciete kennis, een beroep doen op uiteenlopende wetenschappen, ontsluitende en industriële technologieën. It helps organisations to achieve their environmental obligations and performance goals. The European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) is a voluntary environmental management instrument based on a harmonised scheme throughout the EU. Its objective is to improve the environmental performance of organisations by having them commit to both evaluating and reducing their environmental impact, and continuously improving their environmental performance. |
