Interest to cooperate

VITO can offer expertise in animal-free methods for inhalation testing. VITO has an Air-Liquid Interface (ALI) platform with three different ALI exposure modules: two commercial systems for bronchial studies and one in-house developed system for lower airway/alveolar studies. The ALI technology can be used for screening of human health impact of e.g. airborne particulates/nanoparticles; climate change-related components, e.g. allergens and adjuvants (ozone, PM, NOx); consumer products e.g. electronic cigarettes; environmental/occupational chemicals e.g. volatile components from petroleum industry; and pharmaceuticals/inhalers for respiratory tract disorders. Furthermore, human observational studies can generate hypotheses that can be tested in vitro providing the ultimate human benchmark while bypassing animal research. For this work, the ALI platform can be relevant.
